Growing up

Growing up
Sunday, 2 December 2018
Read post

So I am sitting here a day before the blog post is supposed to come out, it is absolutely miserable out there, but I finally know what I want to write about! After a week of thinking, deleting and staring at a blank white screen I have done it.

I have been talking to my mum on the phone recently, talking about the past and the present situation at the Big U and it got me thinking. I have changed. I am nowhere near like the person I was years ago. I have evolved and become someone so different, what I have become was not part of the action plan I had laid out at age 10. Then I realised that I had grown up, without knowing it I had become an adult. I had become a slightly cynical, introverted, easily amused and a happy adult. I had finally had a chance to grow up organically.

Very fat and very hungry baby me
As a child due to the circumstances I was surrounded by, I was forced to grow up prematurely, I had to behave as if I were older than I was, meaning sometimes the mistake another child would make would not be as easily forgiven if I made them. The problem with premature growth is that you miss out on a few lessons you should have learned, it also becomes a bit of a burden. It is a bit like an oven pizza; I mean technically you can warm it up in the microwave for 10 minutes and it would be cooked in half he the time it would have cooked in the oven, but everyone knows although the oven takes longer to cook  the pizza, it tastes better and that's the same with growing up organically. Growing prematurely didn't do me well, I heavily relied on school because I was allowed to be a child, no one excepted me to be mature.

Saying this I loved my childhood, of course, I still messed up as a child and I still have the fondest memories. I blame no one for me having to grow up so fast either, it is just how things played out. Those from Nigerian backgrounds can relate a little on how quickly we are expected to mature, it is for the best interest of course, but sometimes it can be overwhelming. Some people grow up quickly that's just who they are. I am just saying I wasn't that type of person, so when I was reflecting about what it was to grow up I realised what I did in the past wasn't it.

Me at the age of like 12-13 changing the fashion game lol
When I grew up before I was full of anxiety, trepidation, I bottled up how I felt, until the pressure finally built up and I just exploded, a bit like a volcano (No can tell when it is about to blow). That's not how to grow up. So one day when I woke up and I felt at peace, knowing that I may not be the most beautiful, or smartest, or noted of people and was pretty much fine with that, I didn't bat an eye. I guess I went with it. I think that's what it means to grow up, entering a daily war, knowing that you already at peace with yourself. So to hell with people telling you to grow up and to hell with premature growth.  And to the deepest of hell with the notion of being a "Proper adult"

Until next time guys!

Soak Yourself in Rice When Stressed

Soak Yourself in Rice When Stressed
Sunday, 18 November 2018
Read post

The title got you here didn't it? Glad that worked. Well if I am going to be very honest with you. I am always stressed.  In fact, if you were to open the Oxford English Dictionary and search for the word "Stressed", you will find a black and white illustration of me crying over my laptop. Some of you who know me personally may not be convinced by this declaration of stress because according to most of my friends I am chill, calm or unbothered.
That is not me being chilled, that is the numbness followed by the overbearing amount of stress that has emptied me down to an empty husk which is void of all emotion. Ahaha...that got dark really quickly. My point is I know a few things about being stressed and I also know a few things about not being stressed(?) That could have been worded more eloquently, but that has never been my style.

Stress isn't great right? It causes weight gain/loss and acne which is already something I am at war with, without the added complication. So I am going to share with you the most honest and actually effective way to de-stress without having to look for extra dessert. (ahah did you see what I did there?).

So the first step is to give yourself a break ma! Sis, what is you doing?  Why are you being so hard on yourself? It's 12 am you've been looking at this essay for hours, what you need is sleep okay? You need to rest. You can't make a deadline if you well are well...finished. (How can you be finished before the assignment? tragic.)  Think to yourself will this actually matter in a years time? If you are honest with yourself, no it won't  Even if it truly mattered life is about learning and making mistakes. People do not start off as finely cut diamonds, we start as lumps of coal. Earthly pressures mould us and we press through. When diamonds become diamonds no one ever looks at their ring and says: "urgh remember when this diamond was a coal". Okay, I can see how that went off on a tangent there, but you guys get where I am going with, right?

When I am stressed I do two things... I overeat or I stop eating altogether. GCSE me was so stressed that I had to be taken to the doctors because I was losing an unhealthy amount of weight fast. Instead of starving yourself or reaching for a bar chocolate plan your meals in advance in times of stress, so you're still looking after yourselves. Stress is a very mental thing but can manifest into something visible and physical.

Sleep! Make sure you get enough sleep girl(or boy)! Catch them Zs you know what I am sayin? You know how people nap and they feel better when they wake up? Well sleeping for 7-8 hours at night does the same thing, but like 1000% better trust me I know what I am saying. Also, ditch the caffeine, it can make the problem worse, it also increases your blood pressure which is like further associated with stress. Relax and sip a cup of Chamomile or Lavender tea, so much better and sweeter actually. If you must have your caffeine fix try and limit to one cup a day. Sex is great but so is your sanity am I right?

Okay, one last thing take a deep breath in. Hey, I saw that! Don't roll your eyes at me. When people used to tell me to take a deep breathe in. I wanted to make sure that they would never breathe again. There is nothing worse than telling someone that you ain't good, for them to turn around and tell you to calm down and take a deep breathe in. Thanks, Vanessa I totally don't want to pull out my hair, follicle by follicle now, that therapist was waste of my money, I am saved. However, it does help, actually ten help, ten in and outs. I should have made that clearer. No seriously try it, it feels good.

If all else fails then:
1) find an abyss
2) Scream into  it

No, but on a serious note, stress is good in moderation. Stress helps us do well in exams, it's the reason we work hard, its a sort of motivation. My Psychology teacher used to tell me if you aren't stressed for the exam then you're more likely to fail. Stress can quickly become overwhelming, if you find yourself in that situation, switch off and then turn back on, like you would do with a glitchy phone. (I don't recommend that you soak yourself in rice though, that won't help anybody).

In conclusion, don't listen to my ill  inspired title, do not Soak yourself in rice when stressed... unless you're into that type of stuff. We are after all a judge free zone. That's all from me and my bad puns! (There is no PUNch Line here, okay I'll stop I am sure some of you want to PUNch me in the face)
Take the Notebook's advice

See you soon hopefully stress-free and obsessed with Chamomile tea!

Emmy xx (Who currently has an approaching deadline to meet ahh)

Psst...If anyone was in any way physically or mentally affected my puns, please do not hesitate to call your local GP and ask for medication, I, of course, will for your prescription as a way to help you recover. :(

The K Wave- It says Hi! (한류)

The K Wave- It says Hi! (한류)
Wednesday, 7 November 2018
Read post
The K-Wave is not to be, confused with the Mexican wave, which is according to Wikipedia is a neologism literally meaning the "flow of Korea") it is the increase in global popularity of South Korean culture since the 1990s. I don't know about you, but that sounds complicated for no reason. Basically, Korean Culture has become very mainstream recently and its here to stay,

So Korean culture has been very mainstream and somehow I have been swallowed into this tsunami of a wave. I always feel like the K Wave followed suit after Japan had its own wave of culture
A poster I saw on my trip to London...
reaching the West. I myself listen to the Band BTS which is a Kpop band, I also plough through an unhealthy amount of K dramas and Korean variety shows.

I found myself wondering after discovering several people on my course who also listened to Kpop and/or watched, Korean dramas, why Korean music and its culture has become very appealing to the masses. Several things I wanted to mention before I got on is I discovered BTS when I was 16 and I originally enjoyed anime and Japanese Rock, I had also been learning Japanese at the time, but I wasn't doing so well(as one does when you only rely on animes). I am not sure if that was significant information,  not everyone I met recently had a background in the Far East. Also before we continue some ignorant person is going to turn around and say: " Hang on Hang on Hang on. Korea? Japan? China? Aren't they the same?"

If you are that person please close the tab and read a book you clearly need to :). Although there are some vague similarities you only need to look at each of their alphabets to know there is a vast difference, Japan has three written alphabets: Kanj, Hirigana and Katakana whereas Korea only uses the Hangul alphabet. Japanese, is I would say personally is more difficult. Actually, let me go into another tangent because I actually love the origin of language! Japanese has many origins, it's considered a Ural Altaic language (so is Mongolian, Manchu and Korean), but in the 8-9th AD China came along on their high horse (maybe quite literally I don't know I am not exactly a historian)  and they were like: "Here is our beautiful well thought out, intellectual language  this our gift to you lmao."  Japan responded in an upside-down smiley face and took the Chinese characters and remixed it (made it their own...actually can I just point out the conversation is not historically accurate). What happened was the Chinese Characters could not fully express the extent of Speech and only the elite had time on their hand to learn Chinese Characters so someone decided to you know do something about it* With Korea the same thing essentially happened,  except they graciously(I say graciously very very loosely) accepted China's offer and took their incredibly complex writing system at the time and kinda went with it. The current Korean Alphabet was actually devised in 1443 meaning it's one of the newest language systems in the world! Someone eventually turned around and said this is stupid hard! The lower class don't get it and that led to the reform. The language has also been praised for being one of the most efficient and perfect language systems, but that's enough of me boring you

Okay so the K wave? I am not sure how it happened, but I am going to talk to you about why everyone is freaking obsessed. I think everyone has this bubblegum pink images of girls singing in high pitched voices when we hear Kpop, the most cynical of you will even roll your eyes and mutter to yourself about how cringy it all is. Although the bubble gum image is not exactly wrong there is a bigger picture.

The bubblegum pink is a concept.

In Western music, concepts are also explored for example Beyonce in Crazy in Love is not exactly the same as Lemonade Beyonce? Do you get the picture? Of course, it is much more significant in Kpop. Most of the time there is still an overarching sound pop we can't ignore, but of course, their visuals and personalities and often even whole genres will change with each concept.  Let me tell you, readers, concepts change faster than you can say: "I am not a fan of this artist", because you might not be saying that next month when the concepts change. Why is this so enticing? Well, fans are never bored, your favourite group is always changing and reinventing themselves, you get teasers and concepts photos whilst your waiting for this album to drop. You have no idea what you faves will sound like next!

Both pictures are the same group but different concepts. I think it helps demonstrate what I mean by concepts-the people are in the same order of people left to right.  So you can actually easier follow the difference.

Again both the group Red velvet and all the same people I promise, but can you see the difference for concepts. The music for the album is also wildly different. Listen to Perfect Velvet, it's in the name it's literally perfect
What Kpop artist also do well is as relatable as possible, with how they interact with fans. They have an app which is called V Live and all your favourite artist will often grace you with live real-time videos of themselves...like an Insta live. Of course, before that was possible fans would flock the app when they got notifications. They tend to talk about their day like an ordinary person, some even film before or after concerts to talk about the support they got, but mostly it's super casual, they just talking about their life right before they go to bed. BTS also has a very active Twitter page where they post regularly. They also appear in game shows or create their own game shown in the V Live app. BTS has a series of game shows called Run! It's actually usually very amusing and their penalties are usually very bizarre. Particularly with BTS, they are very much themselves and have been open about taboo topics in Korea, such as mental health. Namjoon (leader&rapper) and Yonngi (rapper) have been honest about their depression attracting many people to them and many fans have been able to relate with them.

Hair and Makeup? A lot of people have said every immature things to me simply because K pop Stars wear makeup. Calling them either girls or gay or even both. Very original Todd, you've got a ketchup stain on the t-shirt you've been wearing for a month. The truth folks is that all male TV personalities wear makeup, yuck it up. Yes in the Western world it's more subtle because men in the west have what I call weak masculinity and can't handle the world knowing they have some powder and bronzer on. *eye roll* Korea is a different culture to ours. It's not that common, but it's not unusual for men to wear BB cream or conceal from time to time. Korean men are very aware of their appearance some would say as equally as the female population. In KPop makeup is worn to match their concepts and most idols won't wear make-up outside shows or TV appearances. We have to remember Korean beauty standards are taken very seriously, this a society where looking good is very very important. Many girls I have met actually like that they wear makeup, some don't know how to describe but find it very attractive. It is also reassuring to know that they take care of their appearance. Some male idols will talk to you about their face masksPe. I mean I loved punk rock and guys with eyeliner from those days, so hell I'll take a man with eyeshadow any day! Plus it doesn't look bad on them at all. I think if you were honest with themselves it doesn't take anything from this so-called "masculinity"
Jimin from BTS with no makeup from one of his lives.
The picture next to him is him with makeup on their
Wings Tour

Kpop Gals! Not All Kpop gals are cutesy and sickening like it's often imagined, it really depends on their concepts. Some K Pop gals are the sexiest individuals I have ever seen. Sometimes I don't think they are real. *Insert Images below*

BlackPink

Hyuna

I think the images of East Asian men particularly have been tarred by media in the west. In TV shows they are usually stubby guys with a strong accent, running a small business in a cutthroat a frugal way. They are never really shown as attractive, intelligent way. One example of a bad portrayal of Asian men is Two Broke Girls. It's not fair. Asain women, on the other hand, are shown as mute and unable to understand English which is always the punchline

What else...K dramas! Have you watched one of those things, they are funny and moving at the same time. I have actually shed several tears. Of course like a lot of things there are some cliches, but everyone loves a cliche am I right? The story lines are always compelling and if you know anything about K dramas the plot twists(even if you think you were expecting it) will blow your mind! One Drama called W! was plot twist central. I finished watching the dramas about 6 months ago and still think about the plot twists. I don't know what I was expecting, but their attention to detail in cinematography and script writing is incredible, the humour also transcends culture and race, with the added editing and sound effects, they have never failed to make me laugh. It does help the actors are also gorgeous

K drama Poster! Trans: Strong Woman Do Bong Soon
I think Korea is a very interesting place with a rich culture that I have been immersed in. Korean language partners and Korean Dramas have opened my eyes to a nation I didn't know about several years ago. When I was 14 I asked my Dad why my Samsung phone always reset the time to Seoul, having no idea where it was and now I am saving up to make the trip. It just goes to show ignorance and close-mindedness isn't helping anybody. The K wave is here Bands like BTS and now NCTs have featured on American television. One of the members of BTS participated in the KiKi challenge and blew up before being featured in Drake's  Video, they have collabed with Desiigner, Wale and Nicki Minaj; BTS has also addressed the UN. So how's that?
There more to be said but if you're like me and have an attention span of fish with a head injury this is already too much so I am going to stop here.

Well as they say in Korea

안녕히 가세요!

London in Turtlenecks ft Off topic Rambling

London in Turtlenecks ft Off topic Rambling

Hey, again it's me again! How's it going? Well, Halloween is finally out the way... the clocks have gone back, which may I add I eagerly anticipate every year, once the clock goes forward in the summer. It's getting colder and you can no longer be executed via Twiter for blaring Christmas songs through your earphones, but if I am being honest I have been listening to Christmas songs all year round so I might not be as excited as the rest of you... that's a lie I am still excited...Actually, where was I? Oh yeah, I wanted to share this look with you guys. It's quite simple, yet kinda cute. If I had a boyfriend (actually why don't I have one?)  I would wear this outfit for Winter dates.

I also had loads of fun taking these pictures! Although, my mum and I were a nuisance to the entirety of London, but you know I am annoying so I can only be me.

Also, the Jumper thankfully maintains your figure after your food baby has been conceived (I am still unable to turn down 8th helping from a Chinese buffet, someone help me!)

This is the whole outfit minus my shoes because of reasons. This is a candid shot actually and I was legit crossing after awkwardly posing on the island to tell my mum how embarrassed I was
I am Legit standing like a Sim

Lets the talk about the Jumper okay get ready kids, chant after me: "I got it from StoreDogDog". Are they sponsoring me you ask? One can only dream. No, I just like to import items, rather than shop domestically...hmm as an Ex Geography student, doesn't that sound like the EU and America or..? Anyway it's called the "Ribbed Turtleneck Knitted" and it's  $22.95

Can you see how I was so annoying? Either side of me 10 people probably missed the train as I sat on the stairs being photographed by my mum. Thanks, Ma! (Especially for glaring at people who dared to be in my shot)

Of course, I am going to wear these shoes to I wear out the obnoxiously high platforms. I only wear platformed shoes...why? Because my younger brother towers over me and as an older sister I must- no, it's really because I am short and need a boost. I have till 20 to grow and the future looks bleak. The coat is actually very pink in real life. It's from Warehouse and cost somewhere between £40-50. I bought it a long time ago
so I can't be sure of the price. In this picture, my mum got a bit trigger happy and did not allow me to actually get on the railing. I am now eternally grateful because when I did, I nearly fell back to my doom :) The skirt erm was a charity shop haul sorry! That wasn't helpful, but everyone has a denim skirt these days so I highly doubt you need direction. If you do New Look is your best bet, Speaking of New Look the brown flower patterned belt you can hardly see was £3,99 from you guessed it, New Look and is one of my fave belts!

Aha! Here is my face without a SnapChat filter, before you close the tab in horror and disgust, at least take a peek at my Star earrings. Exclusively for people out of this world! Okay sorry, but look at how Christmassy they are. I got these babies from Lovisa, can't wait to stop being broke and ransack the
shop again!

That's all for now! As you can see my brother truely towers over me, also you can see that coloured jackts are a lifestyle in my family.

Bye Guys!

What they didn't bloody tell me about Uni

What they didn't bloody tell me about Uni
Sunday, 21 October 2018
Read post
So I well here I am. I can now tell old people who ask me about what I am doing with my life, that I am a student Nurse because yes, ladies and gentlemen I am at university. Of course being here for over a month now I think it's a little too late for a room tour (also I don't really want to bloomin' do one, but I heard bloggers aren't allowed say stuff like that so you didn't hear that from me).

There are many things I wished I was told about Uni, but of course, everyone only  assures you will do fine and make lots of friends, whilst handing you a prospectus that fits into two categories: 1)they tried too hard to fit every ethnicity on the front cover and now it looks awkward and uncomfortable 2) If you join the Uni based on the second type of prospectus your flatmates will think everything you do is exotic and wild. What we can all agree on is that no one ever properly reads the prospectus because we hardly care about what the Dean has to say on page 4 or where we can  park our car when your parents visit and quite frankly whoever you force on the cover of the prospectus will always  look like they are dead inside no matter how wide  their smile is.

So I am going, to be honest as I can without getting kicked off my course or being hated by my entire flat although sometimes I feel like I have ticked the latter box

Okay, so Freshers...*sigh*  so I don't like going out that much. I am not sure if it's because my anxiety flares up or I am doing it wrong. Either way, I would not be jumping for joy if someone offered me tickets to hang out with sweaty so and sos in a dark room (did I mention I actually scared of the dark?), whilst  downing shots (I can drink alcohol, not a huge fan, when are they going to start selling juice boxes at the club?). However, that is what exactly freshers are and I was more than content to save myself £8.00 per ticket and sleep. I went out on the first night as I moved in and one other night and that was it. You'll be surprised to hear that I enjoyed it. The first night my American and German flatmates convinced me to come. If they ever find this you guys are awesome! The Americans I have found make everything seem 10x more exciting so before you know it you're in a dark room dancing the night away.

Me actually being excited to go out. How rare!
My tips? For the love of cheese, don't buy the wristbands that allow you to go to everything, because the chances are you might not want to go all events and no you are obliged to go everything even if it's crap. It's better to pay £14 for the two events you wanted to go to rather than pay £50 and not go to any at all. Unless you're hardcore and like partying.  You do you am I right?

Also don't go at all if you don't want to. Everyone says you make friends at freshers,  but not when everyone is drunk off their heads and they don't even remember their own name in the morning let alone yours. So no you are unlikely to meet your bestest friend for life in a sweaty pit.

Flatmates. Most of my Flatmates are grand, shoutout to people in my flat who do their washing up and clean up after themselves. The reality is that there is a possibility that you will get terrible flatmates and there is a possibility you will get great ones. Accommodation is a lottery. Just be happy that your accommodation looks like the pictures because I have heard some horror stories from the other side. I share a Flat with 12 whole human beings, I pray every time I enter the threshold of the kitchen that no one is there, not because they are terrible people, it's because  I am socially awkward and act like aliens dropped me down to earth to try and infiltrate the human race. In conclusion please help...
So yeah most of them are nice. Although I swear to god there is always a random person who does not live in our flat, who wanders around my kitchen and making themselves at home. I wondered quite rudely, I'll admit, do they not live anywhere? Then I had a moment remorse and mentally said sorry, but it's so frustrating because when I go downstairs when they would stare at you as if you were doing them a disservice when it's my freaking flat! One of my flatmates, unfortunately apparently does not know the meaning of washing up and has left something resembling the leaning tower in the sink, so maybe in a days time, I will have nowhere to wash my dishes. I can't seem to fathom why the person is so messy. One thing I regret not doing is organising a cleaning rota and bin changing rota because it seems only a few people are pulling their weight when it comes to keeping shared spaces clean.

Nice little corner of my room that I wanted to add  :)

Okay here's another thing. Laundry is bloody expensive! It is £3.60 for an average wash at my uni and well on top of that there are drying to cost because I wasn't smart enough to buy a drying rack. It sounds cheap until you realise you have to separate darks and whites and do this every week or so.

If you can bundle up your laundry and roll up home and present your family with a charming present that is your laundry...  then do that! Just let them know you love em before unveiling your avalanche of dirty socks. Uni is a strange place because no one gives a monkey's ass and everyone is just trying to survive. I guess since I am here at uni I may as well do like a mini uni series every now and again.

Making friends?  Honestly, everyone is on the same boat as you, I am unfortunate and actually, have a resting bitch face so I am so sorry to everyone who has met me, but I don't bite I am more likely to cry and flee. The best way to make friends? I don't know? If you think someone is cool go up and say hey I guess..?  University is a big place there is bound to be someone that has the same interests as you. I was fortunate enough to have met Sophie who had been absolutely lovely and actually listened to me whilst I must have bored her half to death. You, Sophie, are also the best! No seriously though go up to people in your class and say Hi or something. Try complimenting them, everyone likes to be told if their outfit is cute.

The only other thing I can say is that you're spending £9250 a year to be at the big U so  you know do your best and work hard, do the course you wanna do because I love the idea of  making sure the general public is okay and well, but damn sometimes my course makes me want to YEET and that's from someone who deffo couldn't imagine being anything else other than a Nurse. So pick the course
YOU want to do and not the course your parents have picked out because they won't sit your exams. (You can tell your parents I said this)

Oh, wait. Something else, the boys. This is deffo something people are always concerned about when it comes to Uni and of course, you can't raise your hand and asked the speaker if there are any peng tings on campus because of very obvious reasons.  First of all the hot boys that you see on open days....hahah you will never see them again they were there for decoration and cut, where they went? That is a mystery. Also if you're a first year and a 3rd year tries to tell you he/she loves you in the first week of freshers throw them in the bin and move on. Trust me on this :)

Well until next time kids (unless you're an adult then good day to you sis)

Actually, before you close this tab why not check out my friend Sophie? Just click her name. That's it... that's it....yep the coloured name...yeah you got it!

I Need Some Space

I Need Some Space
Sunday, 14 October 2018
Read post
Okay! Okay! I know. Before you boo and hiss and tell me that it is the autumn as I present this look. I would like to remind you that it is a still a little warm and can be worn out so please don't yell at me and I wanted to share this look before it was officially time to put away the t-shirts (that pains me a lot to say).

Well let's get into this, of course, this was the missing link to my Online Haul.

So here it is my I Need Some Space look.

I just love this t-shirt so much. I can't explain why I love it so much, its quite a youthful t-shirt, something a child would wear. Of course
Star edition
, it has to be to white, but the little squares are so bright and bold and it makes me happy to just catch a glimpse of it! It's really baggy and oversized which is perfect because I have been trying to find the perfect one for years!! Okay, I am exaggerating but it took me a good while to find it nonetheless.

This t-shirt is found at StoreDogDog which is where I get everything from. The top is called TO SPACE, WE GO

Moon edition
It looks just fab with jeans or overalls. I took pictures in both and I called the photo set in overalls the moon edition and the jeans, Star edition because... you'll see when you see the pictures. I don't know if you agree with me but this my favourite photoshoot. (If you can call it that).

The Moon edition

The glasses pictured in the Moon edition photos are Clout goggles that I picked up at Primark for £2 on a beach trip. I had no second thoughts when buying them and I certainly didn't think I would have liked them so much, in fact, there were just the most convenient ones I could buy. They were just there.

The overalls were from the Mantaray Clothing Line from Debenhams and cost around £40.00, my mum brought them for me because I had really wanted overalls that autumn and I couldn't find any that I actually liked. They are very multi-seasonal and can be worn any time of the year!

  The Star Edition

The trousers and shoes first made their debut in my blog post "My Recent Purchases", where I outlined my terrible spending habits if you want to read it you are welcome to click the link. The Jeans and shoes are from Zara and I wear both the shoes and trousers all the damn time! I am sure all my flatmates are sick to death from seeing them. It's funny because sunlight reflects off the shoes and I end up blinding some innocent passerby, they are rather obnoxious shoes! The earrings are of course from Lovisa and also feature in my posts "My Recent Purchases" As you can tell I may as well just advertise their site for them, but it is from the online shop: StoreDogDog. It is quite simply called "NASA HAT". I never really wore hats before this, but it's so cute and it's handy for hiding a bad hair day.
This all for now, as you can tell I just wanted to show you guys the cool pictures that I took, I hope you guys think they're the bees-hair-knees as

well! Bye for Now!

Skin Care? All clear.

Skin Care? All clear.
Sunday, 7 October 2018
Read post

For me, my skin is an important factor when it came confidence. Since I was an early bloomer  I was, unfortunately, the first person to be hit square in the forehead quite literally, with acne.  In Year Six in my forehead was a state it was actually tragic. Of course in the spirit of thriving adolescence, I was made fun of.

As I grew up I felt like I was the only person in the whole world who had skin like a 13-year-old despite being 18.
Everyone told me my skin would clear once I was 16 and although it cleared up a little I still had acne and I hated every second of it. I wanted my makeup to go on smoothly or even better not feel too bad when I didn't wear makeup. Even though I was mastering the art of not giving a fudge, it still bugged me a  bit

I have been using the brand MaryKay for a while, well, since I turned 16 because brands such as Clearasil and Neutrogena only caused my skin to flare up even more and it made me lose the very little hope I had. So my mum put me unto MaryKay because it had miraculously cleared her own acne, she liked the brand so much she became a part-time sales rep. So that's how I started using the brand myself. I had been using the botanical set so not to irritate my sensitive skin and although it was good it did not clear my acne.

So before I went to Uni my mum handed me the "Acne Set", I feel like that I should have been given the Acne Set initially since the tin literally says: It clears acne. I remember looking at my mum dubiously before she reminded me of the times I had used products whose main goal was to clear acne. Long story short: It didn't go too well.

Let me tell you guys! If you happen to suffer from acne this could be it. This could be your saviour. It took 3 days! 3 days to literally destroy the big debris! The product saw my skin and thought: "Over my dead body" and went to work.  So it is my honour to help somebody out today and talk through my routine.

In total there are five products

So the first thing I use is the Clear Proof Clarifying Cleanser for Acne Prone Skin
It is £15.00 I think that's the reality for me when it came to going into my skincare journey some of the products can be a little expensive.

Like I said before though it works super well!

I use it every night and every day, apply hot water to face and really get in there by rubbing it into your skin in a circular motion, it foams up quite quickly and I can assure you, that you don't need a lot of it, only a pea size. It has 2% Salicylic Acid which is an exfoliant that removes dead skin from the pores.

The second thing I use in the night and the evening is the Clear Spot Solution For Acne  Prone Skin
This cost £13.50  but the price can sometimes dip to £12.00
It has 2% Salicylic acid like the latter product, it also has other products including Canadian Willowherb, sea heather and burdock root, which have been linked to reducing redness that is often associated with blemishes. Use like lotion after you wash your face, only uses it in areas where it is particularly spotty, rub in well straight after cleansing.

The next product is the  Clear Proof Pore-Purifying Serum

It has the same ingredients as the last product, I usually apply this in the night and the day and I use it third, it is quite a strong formula and is designed to reduce the size of pores and help control shine.  This product will make or break the routine as this will works actively during the night and say. This item is £18.50, Use this all over your face but sparsely, one pump should do just fine. Like before rub in well in circular motion.

The last item is the Clear Proof  Oil-Free Moisturiser for Acne Prone Skin

Apply this last of all in the morning and the evening, it is non-comedogenic which means that it does not plug pores, which is more than perfect for someone who has acne like me, the routine can be very drying but this moisturiser works so well even my extremely dry skin doesn't need more than a tiny drop. I usually focus around my mouth and nose area because those areas can get a bit flaky for me. This costs £17.00

It is noted that it is cheaper to buy it all as part of the set rather than individually, I know it seems expensive at first but it lasts longer than most of my older skin care products. As every item requires you to use only a pea size amount, so don't go overboard less is more with this skin kit.

Extras
Note when I wash off makeup I don't use the Cleanser to wash off makeup, but I use a shower gel from Lidl. Yes, Lidl.  It's cheap and it is neutral PH so it's perfect and does not irritate your skin at all.

This is the Microdermabrasion Refine wash, it causes tiny little tears in your skin that encourages the skin to repair itself, causing dark marks from previous acne to fade. Mary Kay suggests to use it 3 times a week but I use it only once a week as it can be very harsh on acne prone skin if you use it more than once, even then I mix it with wash as well because I said it may be too powerful for Acne-Prone skin.

I can't quite find the price as it comes together in a set with another item, which costs £51.00

Next is the Clear Proof Deep Cleansing Charcoal Mask I couldn't get a picture of it on its own because it is finished, but it is in the big picture of all of them. MaryKay claims it is a triple action mask that deeply cleanses skin and reduces shine and makes your skin look wonderful. I use it twice a week, on a Thursday and a Sunday and I wear it for 20 minutes. You can actively see it destroy huge spots and in the morning, you can tell that that the size has been reduced drastically. This isn't a must but my skin just feels so much better than usual and it's the closest thing to a quick fix, it just I can't put it into words how great it is!

If you what to find out more about each product feel free to click the names of each item and it will take you to their website, everything that I told you I found out on their website, of course, I gave you my opinion as well. They're a great company and greatly underrated.

This isn't an Ad or sponsorship I have brought all the products myself and gave you my honest opinion. I would wholeheartedly recommend the brand to any friends so if you want, give it a try!

Until next time

Read post

Hey guys! First and foremost I have to apologise to everyone as I had actually said I would post every Sunday. Two Sundays went by I hadn't posted a thing! Nada! Well, it was because I didn't have a laptop, I should've just held my breath but I jumped the canon forgetting that I was starting Uni and had yet to purchase a laptop (oops). Hopefully, my posts will be more frequent and regular (fingers crossed). Perhaps I should hold my tongue once again and not say another word.

Without further ado, I present you this post!

Okay so more recently I have had a mental wish list which I had been working towards so this is another haul type post as a result of fulfilling it, kinda...

So the first item I was so excited about! I hadn't really expressed that I wanted this item to many people, but I had wanted it for a while and I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. I waited impatiently till I got paid and then waited impatiently for the next day delivery. When I got them I was over the freaking moon and I have never been quite the same since...I mean just look at them!

Here they are the Fila Disruptor II

I treat these trainers like they are my children and I absolutely love them, they are comfy and worth the hype! Even my mum loves them and she isn't a fan of trainers! Although saying that back in her day she wasn't a stranger to Fila. I do like what the brand has to offer and maybe will try and now venture out of my comfort zone because I myself did not own any trainers before these ones. I had only worn Vans in the past.

They were £80.00 which is actually cheap for trainers these days and they are a wonderful addition to the wardrobe as it seems to suit everything(?). I brought mine from JD, but I have been informed that you can actually get them from Office also.

Next, I had brought a series of (white) t-shirts  from my favourite shopping site Store DogDog

So T-shirt #1 is listed as I am Cool Tops
It is a very self-explanatory t-shirt that I thought would be a fun thing to wear around when I started Uni and would perhaps be a talking point when I was making friends...wow writing that out was embarrassing. I thought it would be funny! Okay!?

T-shirt #2 Will lend itself to my ongoing obsession with Sailor Moon and it's called Kill you in Behalf of the Moon

I think it goes without saying that I will not actually approach and kill anyone, as far as I know, that is illegal and also morally wrong. Don't murder kids! Jail ain't pretty! So yeah it's a rad top and can you guess the colour? I am sure you're rolling your eyes and huffing white because it has become very clear on my blog that I wear a lot of white.  The picture is showing the back, but it is quite plain on the front.

Most people on campus have probably seen me wandering around with this top on. It's an oversized t-shirt, I forgot to add that so the sleeves come up to my elbow.

So t-shirt #3 is errrr...Yet another tribute to Sailor Moon (I have four Sailor Moon t-shirt for anyone asking).
It is listed on the site as Fallen Anime Top

I am not sure if I was too tall, but it looked baggier in the pictures, but I still love it, it has some room in it which is all I really care about.

So there we have it! All my favourite buys. If you haven't already, check out the site, although this isn't an Ad I do recommend you go. Shipping is free worldwide as well and you get free socks when you order over $40. You can use the code DOGDOG at checkout or my code CLUMSY

I just love the site so much so just look when you have the time.

There was another T-shirt I brought but I am doing a look on that so stay tuned for the future.

Until next time
